AgeGuide serves Northeastern Illinois, which includes the collar counites of Cook and Suburban Cook. We have a variety of different landscapes including Lake Michigan, more urban cities and expansive farmland. Our counites are not only diverse in their landscape but also diverse in the people AgeGuide serves. We serve a variety of different languages and ethnicities among the older adult residents in our counites.

Programs

A Matter of Balance

This program teaches older adults how to reduce fall risks and eases their fear of falling, improves falls self-management, increases self-confidence, and promotes physical activity. Bingocize

Bingocize combines a bingo-like game with exercise and health education. The program has been shown to increase older adults’ functional fitness, health knowledge, and social engagement. Contact AgeLinc to find dates and locations of programming in your area.

Fit and Strong!

This class is a multiple component exercise program designed to help seniors with stiffness and pain to be more active and confident in their daily lives, and allows them to live a more active lifestyle. The class provides physical activity training and health education for older adults with lower extremity Osteoarthritis. Contact us for more information.

Healthy Steps in Motion

Healthy Steps in Motion is an exercise program designed for people of all fitness levels. The program is a one-hour session twice a week for eight weeks, and is taught by certified instructors; it starts with a warm-up, followed by strength and balance exercises and ends with a cool down-stretch. Tai Chi for Arthritis

Tai Chi is an enjoyable exercise that can improve balance, relieve pain, and improve health and ability to do things. It is a slow exercise. It is easy to learn and good for all ability levels. The essential principles of Tai Chi include mind and body integration, fluid movements, controlled breathing and mental concentration.
