Volunteer Opportunities

Take Charge Series

The Take Charge of Your Health Programs are evidence-based workshops held for two and a half hours, once a week, for six weeks. Workshops take place in community settings such as senior centers, churches, libraries, and hospitals throughout Cook County. These workshops are led by two trained facilitators, one or both of whom may be non-health professionals with ongoing health conditions themselves. Participants gain skills to manage their health and stay active in their lives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer facilitators will be trained in the Take Charge of Your Health Series workshops (Chronic Conditions, Cancer, Diabetes, and Chronic Pain). Facilitators are expected to commit to leading at least two workshops per year, available in both English and Spanish.
