A Matter of Balance
Empowers older adults to manage fall risks and boost activity levels. Participants learn strategies to reduce the fear of falling while enhancing balance, flexibility, and strength, ultimately viewing falls as controllable challenges.
About the class
A Matter of Balance is an award-winning program empowers older adults to manage falls and increase their activity levels. Guided by two trained coaches, participants will explore strategies to reduce the fear of falling and boost their confidence in staying active.
Duration & Format
- In-Person Workshops: Meet once or twice a week for eight sessions, each lasting 2 hours.
- Virtual Workshops: Participate in nine sessions, with the first session providing instruction on how to utilize the virtual platform.
Topics Covered
- Group discussions and problem-solving exercises
- Skill-building and assertiveness training
- Sharing practical solutions
- Learning to change negative thinking to positive thinking
- An exercise component is introduced during the third session, taking about 30 minutes to complete, helping you build strength and improve balance.
